Make one plan, not three

Pick one sibling as the medical contact. Send the discharge paper once. Ask the caregiver to call that number after the visit. Three voice notes from three children confuse a nurse faster than a bad address. This is the practical side of elder care at home in Kolkata and of elder care at home in Kalyani. The parent stays. The children rotate visits. The daily work is local.

What you can book from another city

A lab test at home for the report your doctor in the other city asked for. A nurse for the injection. An attendant for the nights you cannot fly in. A doctor visit when the story on the phone does not match last week.

What you still have to do yourself

Visit when you can. Do not outsource the half hour on the balcony. Home care across India fails when the only voice the parent hears is a stranger’s, however kind.
